Windsong
Windsong (foreground), a 1983 50’ Morgan, was the overall winner with 9:50:24 best time. Skipper Frank Riggio learned of the regatta at the Coral Bay Yacht Club’s 40th Thanksgiving Regatta just the week before the event. The numbers speak for themselves - he reached the end of the first leg almost one hour before the next vessel. Congratulations to Windsong setting the both the 2021 STJ/STT record @ 4:52:00 and The 2021 Inaugural Three Sheets Regatta overall race record @ 9:50:24.
Crew: Ron Ault, Sean Philip, Kim Alverez, and Mike Sanchez. -
Nightwind II
Nightwind II is a 53’ Gallant vessel captained by St Thomas’ own Wes O’Dell, a lifetime sailor, who can be seen on the current season of Bravo Series BELOW DECK. Wes, his crew, and vessel finished second in the overall performance.
Crew: Ashley Harrell, Cloe Perkins, Walter Wilson, and Marin Charles. -
Euphoria Too
Euphoria Too, a 43’ Oyster vessel, was captained by Tim Lewis and first mate Mary Elkins travelled to the USVI unaware of the race. As soon as they heard about it, they signed up. This boat had 2 unregistered crew and upon further extensive investigation by the race officials, they were deemed exempt from registration because Dexter was a dog and Jasper was a cat. They all were, of course, allowed to compete.
Crew: Mary Elkins, Jasper Meow, and Dexter Woof. -
Libra
Libra - a refitted 1969 57’ Bill Tripp custom ketch won the second leg of the race. Captain Ryan Rayfield is best known for his offshore blue water training program sailing all around the world teaching captains and crew long passages from the Caribbean to the Atlantic to the Mediterranean seas. We were blessed to have them join us in our inaugural event. We also thank the Libra crew for taking time for a beach cleanup on Saturday. Libra sets the 2021 STX/STT record at 4:50:51
Crew: Jim Nanney, Wayne Teas, Meghan Ferguson, BJ Ringuette, Sanne Klippel, and Linda Rica. -
Even Keel
Even Keel – a Lagoon 37’, the only catamaran in the race had a crew of two. Captain John Skelly reported that they enjoyed every minute and impressed the seasoned racing officials when they double reefed the main sail at the sight of a squall while leaving the St Croix starting line on Sunday morning.
Crew: Angela Gruber (the Admiral) -
Moonshadow
Moonshadow - a 39’ sloop hailed from St. Croix, received the Herculean Prize for the longest haul of any of the fleet. They sailed from St Croix to St. John on Thursday, raced on Friday to St Croix, Sunday to St Thomas, then sailed back to St. Croix on Monday. Despite engine trouble on the first leg, captain Chris Robb got back in the race and finished. Because of a technical TLE (Time Limit Expired) the race committee was forced to disqualify the Total Time ranking. Regardless of this, many thanks to Moonshadow, Chris, and his crew for being part of the race, your perseverance was inspiring.
Crew: Dillon Collins, Luke Clark, Krissi Lund, and Madeleine Guyant. -
