Rally Participant Guidance
Three Sheets & Round the Rocks · USVI Sailing Week · April 8–11, 2027
Enjoy the sailing, the destinations, and the company—without entering a race.
Three Sheets and Round the Rocks offer a casual, noncompetitive Rally alongside their racing programs. There is no competitive start, race timing, handicap scoring, or requirement for a racing rating.
The Notices of Race apply only to racing. The Rally runs concurrently but is not governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing. This page provides separate guidance for Rally participants.
How the Rally Works
Sail or motor at your own pace, as suits your boat and crew. General departure guidance will help participants coordinate their passages, but there is no requirement to keep pace with other boats.
You may join selected Three Sheets legs or complete the full itinerary.
We also encourage Three Sheets participants to join the Round the Rocks Rally on Thursday, April 8. Traditionally a separate racing event associated with STIR, Round the Rocks is adding a Rally option for 2027. It requires separate entry and is not included in the Three Sheets fee.
Itinerary Overview
Thursday, April 8
Optional Round the Rocks Rally, followed by the Three Sheets opening gathering on St. John.
Friday, April 9
St. John to Christiansted, St. Croix, with a shoreside gathering.
Saturday, April 10
Christiansted to Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, with a gathering planned at Yacht Haven Grande.
Sunday, April 11
Charlotte Amalie to St. Thomas Yacht Club, followed by the closing awards gathering.
Rally departure and arrival guidance will be provided separately; racing start signals and race time limits are not Rally requirements.
Registration and Fees
Choose Rally rather than Race participation when registering.
Three Sheets—returning participants: $150 per boat.
Three Sheets—first-time participants: $200 per boat.
Round the Rocks—Race or Rally: an additional $50 per boat.
Registration links and instructions will be posted here, including how to indicate your selected Three Sheets legs. We will also identify which shoreside activities and participant items are included, and any separately charged options.
Arrival and Shoreside Arrangements
Guidance on anchorages, moorings, dockage, dinghy access, and getting ashore will be added as local arrangements are confirmed. Venue and partner announcements will provide further details about the gatherings at each destination.
Please plan how your crew will get ashore. Do not assume an event shuttle or dinghy service will be available unless it has been announced.
Briefings and Communications
Before the event, we will post Rally briefing arrangements, organizer contacts, VHF channels, any participant messaging group, and any departure or arrival check-in procedures.
Use the guidance provided specifically for the Rally rather than assuming racing procedures apply. Check this page before the event; during the event, updates will be distributed through the channels identified in the Rally briefing.
Skipper Responsibilities and Insurance
Each skipper is responsible for the safety of their boat and crew, passage planning, navigation, and the decision whether to depart, continue, change course, or remain in port. Consider the weather, sea conditions, vessel capabilities, and crew experience before each passage.
Rally departure guidance and the itinerary are coordination aids, not instructions to sail regardless of conditions. You may adjust your plans to suit your boat and crew.
Before participating, confirm with your insurer that your policy covers your intended cruising area and Rally activities. Charter participants should also confirm permission and any applicable conditions with their charter operator. Do not assume that choosing Rally participation automatically establishes insurance coverage.
